ChatGPT + Environment = Not a good combo!
ChatGPT + Environment = Not a good combo!

How many times do you use ChatGPT in a day? If you say more than five times, you are definitely not alone. Ever since AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Meta AI came to existence, all you needed to go further! They have so much potential! With them, you can research, write poetry, generate funny memes, and so much more. But all things come at a cost, and so does ChatGPT. This article is all about why you should be concerned.
For starters, these chatbots are really easy to become dependent on. Students
who could not excel due to a lack of understanding and struggled earlier could now have an entire report generated in just a few clicks! However, when the AI is taken away from them, such as during an exam, they do not know how to respond. By
thinking that they had everything covered by using ChatGPT, during moments
where they need to use their own brains, they do not know how to. Humanisers do
exist, which could keep them from being discovered, but it is just cheating and gives them credit for something they haven’t even written by themselves. It
just makes students who worked hard (by themselves) feel terrible!
Does AI also affect adults? Of course! AI takes up a lot of energy. For every
single word that it processes, leading to your electricity bills skyrocketing.
This causes financial strains and mental strains, because adults—people who
used to think AI was a costless blessing—begin to soak in the reality.
Then comes the environment. I am pretty sure that most of the people reading
this aren’t concerned (not all) and have the “Ugh! The silly environment! Why
should I care? This is boring" mindset. But you definitely should care, as
there is a really high chance of us all going extinct in a few centuries. The
use of ChatGPT and ChatGPT training centres consumes very heavy amounts of water
and electricity and releases a lot of carbon. At this rate, ChatGPT could
become deadly.
So, what can we do about this? Unless you work in an AI chatbot company or are
a highly influential person, there is nothing much you or I can do about the
apps' energy and water consumption. But here is what you, as an individual, CAN
do: Stop using it! If you just try to let your brain go to its full potential,
you'll surely realise what you have been missing out on. If you don't think you
can manage that, try to slowly limit your usage. Another helpful thing you can
do is to keep your prompts as short as possible. Even though we've made so much
progress through technology, there is so much to cover on the damage we have
done!
